Downtown Concert Series Begins June 22nd


The Project to Perform for the Downtown Concert Series at the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts

On Friday, June 22nd from 6-8pm the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts invites guests to the Downtown Concert Series, presented by The Arts Council of the Morris Area, the Madison Downtown Development Commission and Investors Bank featuring the classic rock band, The Project.

A four-piece band of Madison men who initially found one another through their children, students at Madison’s Central Avenue School, and returned to their roots in classic rock.  The band features Chris Bias as lead vocals, rhythm guitar and percussion, Mike Preston on lead and rhythm guitar, Mike Shugrue on bass, background vocals and harmonica, and Marc Cozzolino on Drums.

The Downtown Concert Series is a series of FREE Friday evening, family-friendly concerts, held every other Friday, outside on the lawn of the Museum.  Guests are encouraged to spend some time after the concerts in downtown Madison where they can explore the town’s many unique shops and restaurants.

Knitting Workshop

Join skilled knitter Susan Kessel as she leads a two day beginner knitting workshop.  Learn about the tools, fibers and methods needed to knit.  Participants will be taught the basics of Casting On, the Knit Stitch, the Purl Stitch, and Binding Off, the four basic skills needed to knit and will be able to create something of their own.   

Open to ages 12 & up.  Pre-registration required by Friday, June 15th.  Space is limited.  Admission is $25 for Non-members & $20 for Members (includes all supplies).  Call 973-377-2982 x14 to register.

Find out with artist Kai Cole of ButtonTHIS as she presents a fascinating, interactive lecture about the evolution of buttons.  Learn about the button’s history, purpose and design, while discovering some little known facts along the way.  Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in a button project at the end of the program.   

Appropriate for all ages 10  and up.  Space is limited.  Advance

As a thank you to those in the Armed Forces and their families, METC will once again participate in the Blue Star Museum program.  This is a free admission program available to any bearer of a Geneva Convention Common Access Card (CAC), A DD Form 1173 ID Card, or a DD Form 1173-1 ID Card, which includes active duty military and their immediate family members, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard, and Reserve.

Crafters Corner, Workshops for Adults


On Sunday, May 20th at 2 pm the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts will host an adult craft workshop series call Crafters Corner. 

Join artist and Educator, Rachel Prager as she teaches attendees how to be creative with t-shirts.  Participants will learn how to make their own fashionable t-shirt scarf and flowers.

Each session of Crafters Corner will feature a different craft project.  Participants will create unique, one-of-a-kind crafts that they can take home. 

Open to ages 16 and up.  Space is limited.  Pre-registration required.   

Admission is $15 for Non-members & $10 for Members (includes all supplies & Museum admission).

Rug Hooking Workshop

Saturday, May 19th 2 PM

Learn the art of rug hooking with skilled fiber artist Susan Hoekstra, owner of Foxview Needlepoint & Rug Hooking of Long Valley. Participants will go home with a finished piece.
